U.S. Forest Service Trees Reduce Runoff and Remediate Contaminants

(Jan 31, 2019) Supported by funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the U.S. Forest Service and its partners planted more than 10,000 trees for runoff reduction and phytoremediation of 10 waste sites in southeastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and have identified superior varieties of trees for use at other sites.
