Marking Fish for Maximum Impact

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service continues to lead the innovative mass marking program which supports the recovery of lake trout populations. As part of that effort, approximately 25 million lake trout have been stocked in the Great Lakes since 2010. Thanks to a host of collaborators, technological advancements, and 15 years of funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, this program has increased the effectiveness and efficiency of stocking and monitoring fish.
